Return & Refund Policy

At The Mates Maker Shed, we want you to be happy with your order.

As a charity and men’s shed, our products are made with care by members who are also learning and building their 3D printing skills. Because of the nature of 3D printed items, small cosmetic variations can happen from print to print.

While not every item will be 100% perfect, we always aim to make each product as close to perfect as possible, and we do not send items with major defects.

1. Nature of 3D Printed Products

Please note that 3D printed products may have minor variations, including but not limited to:

  • small layer lines

  • minor surface texture variations

  • slight colour differences

  • small finishing marks

These are normal characteristics of 3D printed items and are not considered defects.

2. Major Defects / Damaged Items

If your item arrives with a major defect, is damaged in transit, or you receive the wrong item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery.

Examples of major defects may include:

  • cracks or breaks affecting use

  • major print failure that affects function

  • missing essential parts (if applicable)

  • item significantly different from what was ordered

We may ask for:

  • your order number

  • a short description of the issue

  • clear photos of the item and packaging

3. Returns Eligibility

We accept returns or offer refunds/replacements where:

  • the item has a major defect

  • the item was damaged during shipping

  • the wrong item was sent

To be eligible, the item must:

  • be returned in its original condition (where possible)

  • not show signs of misuse, alteration, or accidental damage after delivery

4. Change of Mind

As many of our products are made-to-order or produced in small runs, we generally do not offer returns or refunds for change of mind.

Please read product descriptions carefully before purchasing, including dimensions, colours, and usage notes (for example, LED/fake tealight only where stated).

If you are unsure before ordering, feel free to contact us and we will do our best to help.

5. Refunds or Replacements

If your return is approved, we may offer one of the following (at our discretion and in line with Australian Consumer Law):

  • a replacement item

  • a refund to your original payment method

  • a store credit (where agreed)

Shipping costs may be refunded where the item is faulty or incorrect.

6. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

You may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund for products that have a major problem.
